Diamond Quilt Block

Diamond Square Quilt Block

I started work on a new quilt.  This one is new and fun in a few ways.  I’m mostly making it up as I go, which is a departure from my usual scribble pad planned out, laid out, new fabric purchased quilt projects. I am also picking all the fabrics from my scraps.  I finally organized all my fabrics last week into bins by color and material, and I think I’ve amassed enough scraps to just start sewing without  a trip to the fabric store.  (That may or may not be a good thing, but I think it is a fun thing.) These bright diamond blocks come courtesy of this super handy tutorial available at Sew Happy Geek, thank you! They will hopefully find their way onto a surprising background within the next week or so.

I love the orange/yellow/gray combination. I have been trying to avoid trips to the fabric store too — it’s gratifying to finish something that you love without spending more money. Nice job!

  2. The color combinations you have going are brilliant! The less planned approach is really working out for you. The block pattern is neat too! Thanks for the link. I to have recently organized by color. It sure helps me spend less time wandering around looking for fabric.

I love the colors and design. Isn’t it nice to organize and find inspiration.

Love the colors and the switch-eroo on the layouts! Very nice!

  5. I love the way you are alternating the colour bands – am looking forward to the finished item!
